Mother Earth, whose renewing power enlivens, heals, and sustains us,
As the day begins, bring our breath into an unhurried rhythm. Focus all our senses on the natural world around us, thankful for the energy we receive from your creation. Open us again to the wonder of life unfolding after darkness, of new found activity in places of dormancy. Throughout this day, let us show our appreciation for the earth by making our footsteps gentle ones and our touch, caring and compassionate. Strengthen us to a further commitment for using only what we need and sharing our excess with others. We celebrate your goodness, today and everyday. Amen.

Emerging Beauty

Revealer of Treasure, who gives us a glimpse of hidden things,
This new day begins with blue birds flirting on the window sill and flowering trees boasting of their beauty. Amongst creation’s commotion, we encounter your peace filled Presence. In the course of our responsibilities today, awaken our hearts to uncover the potential for love and emerging beauty you bring to every circumstance. Plant us as beacons in your garden so others might encounter your fullness where they thought there was nothing. Amen.

Budding New Life

whose evidence surrounds us in this season,
Center our souls on your Presence to discover within whatever is struggling toward birth. As we explore new depths of intimacy with you, help us to admit how we fail at ceasing doing what is wrong and fall short of doing what is right. Then, guide us to your grace resurrecting our lives, bringing us out of dark discontent into freedom and glorious light. Strengthen us to bear this witness for others. Amen.

Holy Living

Precious Savoir, who guides us through each day,
In this time of quiet, move us a step closer toward the mystery of your Presence. Open our hearts to your leading through the Holy Week ahead. Give us an honest clarity at our private rationalizations and our comfortable self-deception. Bring us to let go of the burdensome things we have held so dear. Breathe through us with renewing power, challenging us to pour out love, peace and reconciliation in our homes, our churches and our communities. Amen.

In this silence, we welcome your loving Presence and loosen our hold on things that don’t matter. Guide us to spiritual truths found in your creation. Remind us that transformation and humility come quietly and slowly. Nudge us forward when our patience and hope are worn out. Broaden our view to see the mystery of your work in the whole of it. Thank you for turning the earth and changing the seasons without any effort on our part. Remind us that we are all invited to work toward your purpose which brings new life. Amen.

Persevering for Peace

Fill us with gratitude in this silence for all that you provide. Bring to view things that go unnoticed and yet point us toward the reality of your love. Rather than managing our difficulties with cool calculations, guide us to positions of new vulnerability and openness to compassionate grace. Help us to become aware of your Presence in the collective company we keep, reminding us that together we can shelter any storm. Keep us faithful in our prayer for peace. Amen.

New Possibilities

Patient Purifier, whose creation is covered under snowy white blankets,
In this morning quiet, as our flaws are exposed, cleanse us with compassion. Through the power of your loving Presence, search our interior lives relieving us of our intolerance and prejudice. Help us learn that surrender is not passivity rather instead, uses our discomfort to increase our understanding for one another. Remind us that even when it appears nothing is happening, you continue to make new realities possible. Amen.

Carry Us Toward Truth

Strength of Today, whose arms carry us toward truth,
Use this silent moment to help us to notice the beauty that can be found amongst the shadows. Give us strong hearts willing to grow in difficult seasons. We begin this Lenten journey remembering that we all return to dust. Whatever our vantage point, help us to look closely for the connections that exist to encourage and support us. As we find our way through this day, cast light from our depths for the sake of the strengthening another. Amen.

Simplify Our Work

Simplify our work to only that which brings strength to another. Reveal your compassion and peace when harmful actions interrupt goodness. Guide us by your mercy to engage whole communities in ways that encompass hope. Amen.

Place of Belonging

Architect of Increase, who builds a place of belonging for us all,
Today’s silence leads us to an inner room where our souls can begin to attend to your Presence. In the cold of winter; this inner place is warm, a place of fertile growth. Widen our seeking to find you both in the light and the dark corners. Guide us to hidden doors and windows, to the steps that lead us further into the mystery of your mercy and grace. Give us patience to remain in this inner place until your whispers expand our ability to love. Amen.
