Weaver of Life, whose simple designs create spaces of wonder,
We return to our homes this evening grateful to have experienced the tension, the fragility and the brilliance of the threads that have made up this day. Even when we have wanted to go in one direction, you gently turned us toward another direction in life-giving ways. Remind us not to enclose ourselves too tightly and miss moving toward the edges that enable us to increase our trust in the wisdom of your plan. Grant us rest in the delicate strength of your loving Presence this night. Amen.

A Prayer for a Summer Day

Nurturing Maker of Earth, whose creative work is revealed in each season,
Send us outdoors this day to be immersed by your loving Presence. Refill us with breaths of sunshine and color. Our hearts fling open to take in the beautify of your fields and sky. Our bodies are sustained by your summer fruit. Return our thoughts to your constancy and your bounty. Everywhere you recreate us with a goodness that is real right now, and forever. Amen.

Paint the Day

Creator of Love, who inspires passion for living and serving,
Use this silent moment, giving us pause to consider the canvas of this new day. With each breath, fill us with promise for the fullness that is ahead. Thank you for providing for us and inviting us to live creatively. Use our words, like paint on the palate, to create light and shadow naming the reality in front of us. Give us courage to see truth and express ourselves in life giving ways, each a paintbrush that illuminates the need for one another in community. If one brushstroke goes beyond alignment, use it to become the foundation for an element of focus and beauty in our midst. Remind us there is no failure in love. Amen.

Earth’s Goodness

Mother Earth, whose renewing power enlivens, heals, and sustains us,
As the day begins, bring our breath into an unhurried rhythm. Focus all our senses on the natural world around us, thankful for the energy we receive from your creation. Open us again to the wonder of life unfolding after darkness, of new found activity in places of dormancy. Throughout this day, let us show our appreciation for the earth by making our footsteps gentle ones and our touch, caring and compassionate. Strengthen us to a further commitment for using only what we need and sharing our excess with others. We celebrate your goodness, today and everyday. Amen.

Quietly and Slowly

Renewing Power, who refreshes the earth in Spring time,
In this silence, we welcome your loving Presence and loosen our hold on things that don’t matter. Guide us to spiritual truths found in your creation. Remind us that transformation and humility come quietly and slowly. Nudge us forward when our patience and hope are worn out. Broaden our view to see the mystery of your work in the whole of it. Thank you for turning the earth and changing the seasons without any effort on our part. Remind us that we are all invited to work toward your purpose which brings new life. Amen.

New Possibilities

In this morning quiet, as our flaws are exposed, cleanse us with compassion. Through the power of your loving Presence, search our interior lives relieving us of our intolerance and prejudice. Help us learn that surrender is not passivity rather instead, uses our discomfort to increase our understanding for one another. Remind us that even when it appears nothing is happening, you continue to make new realities possible. Amen.

Surrendor to Beauty

Draw us toward your active Presence as we set our intent for this day. No matter what is needed, move us away from self sufficiency to surrender. In each encounter and circumstance, open us to notice your beauty and truth. Use the interruptions to simplify our efforts to only that which is essential. Fill us with the kind of gratitude that reaches out to support those around us. When the day is over, help us to rest satisfied in all that You accomplished to bring your creation to new wholeness. Amen.

Quiet Community

Creator of Life, who is active in the deep, darkness of the winter earth,
Encircle us with your peace in this silence. Use this frozen season to help us learn to rest in all that is. Bring us to accept and acknowledge the unknown as we begin this New Year. Guide us in full trust toward what cannot yet be seen. Gently break us open to growing in ways we resist, then, use our practice as seeds to engage others so that your Presence is fully realized in quiet spaces of community. Amen.

Lengthening Shadows Ending this Year

Holy One, who fills both lightness and darkness with mystery,
As the shadows lengthen on this year, we attend to the fullness of your Presence. Your love comes at us so fully, and so often we either shy away, or are too distracted to notice. Right here, we have all that is needed; somehow we are enough, right now. We count on you to continue to make us tender with compassion and to further our trust in the ways of mercy and forgiveness. Our deepest desire is for peace with all people. With this last dusk of the year, propel us into the unknown future trusting that you are already there, preparing for our next moment. Open us to receive all that you provide with gladness. Amen.

Giving Thanks

For the earth, her beauty and her bounty, thanks be. For time spent attending to your Presence, thanks be. We enter your life, Holy One, and find you deep within ours. With joy and thanksgiving, direct us this day toward every opportunity to love through our work and our play. May all that which we offer, be for the sake of another. Amen.
